KHADIJA – IMMIGRANT

RATIONALE:

Black box within white box:

Refers to Khadija's statement about feeling boxed in. The white boxing in the black is representative of the white community (the majority)boxing in and marginalising the minority groups of which Khadija is a part of.

Colours:

Green and white – Representative of the flag of Khadija’s home nation of Nigeria. Depicting Khadija’s feeling that despite living in England immigrants and refugees like herself should maintain pride for their own origin and heritage and not be under pressure to adhere solely and immediately to being ‘British’.
