Project Information
With goals from big Dan Burn and that other bloke we don’t mention anymore, Newcastle United ended their 70-year wait for silverware. As part of the celebrations, I was commissioned alongside local legends Jimmy Turrell and Ewen Spencer to help mark the occasion.
Together, we worked on The Road To Wembley, an immersive exhibition offering supporters a space to relive the victory through original artworks, immersive spaces and a carefully curated selection of photography.
We drew from an archive of local material, from Margaret Calvert’s iconic work for the Tyne and Wear Metro to old match programmes and The Pink, The Chronicle’s long-running Saturday football special. This helped shape a visual language rooted in the city and its footballing history, telling the story through quotes, songs, and plenty of hidden easter eggs for supporters to discover along the way.
