Love them or hate them, Sagmeister & Walsh are never ones to shy away from attention. It’s Nice That spoke to the pair about their opinions on beauty, coinciding with their aptly named Beauty project.
The duo consulted philosophers, historians and scientists to highlight how beauty fell out of favour in 20th- and 21st-century art and architecture, making a compelling case for why we should return to it today.
To visualise the story, and knowing how much they love a self-portrait, we inserted the pair into some of the world’s most widely recognised classically ‘beautiful’ artworks, from Michelangelo to Bernini, brought to life by the wonderful Thomas Hedger.
